So you cured your acne. Hopefully the acne will not return to haunt you? But what about the ugly scars left behind as a reminder of your cured acne. You have two choices. You can see your skin specialist for a dermatological procedure which would cost a lot of money. Or you can continue reading this article as I am going to share with you the 2 natural tips on how to remove acne scars which will cost very much less.

1. Lemons – Soak a cotton bud with fresh lemon juice and rub it lightly over each acne scar on your face. Then lie back and let the lemon juice get absorbed into the acne scars for fifteen minutes. After that just rinse your face with warm water and pat it dry. Do this once in the morning and another one in the evening. You will notice that the lemon juice has a bleaching effect on your scars. The acne scars will get lighter and lighter with every treatment. After a few months the lemon juice will work its magic and completely remove acne scars. However do not apply the lemon juice to the unscarred areas of you face. The lemon juice is highly acidic and can make your skin very dry.

2. Cucumbers – Cucumber juice is also an excellent bleaching agent. However unlike the lemon juice it does not dehydrate your facial skin. It can therefore be used on the scars as well as the rest of your face. You can do this procedure in the evening after the session with the lemon juice. Simply cut about 1/2 cm of the cucumber so that you have a round layer. Cut two layers of cucumber. With this two round layers of cucumber rub it all over your face. Take care not to rub your eyes. You will feel a cool and soothing effect on your face. Just leave the cucumber juice to dry on your face while you sleep. You will wake up with a soft and glowing skin. Do this for a few months and your acne scars will vanish.

The above are 2 natural tips on how to remove acne scars completely and which will not cost a lot of money. In fact the two things can easily be found in most kitchens. Otherwise you can get them cheaply at your local market or supermarket. Do the 2 tips consistently and diligently everyday and after a few months you would be amazed that your acne scars are gone forever.

Chemical Peel – Phenol and Trichloroacetic Acid

Author: Alan Hoodbr

br
Chemical Peel Information
A Chemical Peel is the medical terminology for what most people refer to as chemical facial peel, chemical face peel, acne chemical peel, and chemical skin peel. A Chemical Peel procedure utilizes a chemical solution such as Phenol and trichloroacetic acid to restore wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin. This solution essentially peels away skins top layers.
Length and details of the Chemical Peel procedure
The length of the Chemical Peel procedure varies, but typically takes 1 to 2 hours for full face.
Typically no anesthesia is required, but sedation is sometimes utilized
Most Chemical Peel procedures are routinely outpatient. For those individuals seeking a full-face phenol peel inpatient admission may be required. (1 to 2 days.)
Risks and/or complications related to the Chemical Peel procedure
Possible side effects for both types of Chemical Peels include temporary throbbing, tingling, swelling, redness and sensitivity to sun. Specific side effects for the Phenol method include a permanent lightening of treated skin, frequently resulting in the permanent loss of ability to tan.
In addition there are other associated risks with this procedure that include the chance infection, scarring, outbreak of skin allergies, fever blisters, and cold sores. Specific side associated risks for the Phenol method include abnormal color changes of the permanent type and in extremely rare cases; heart irregularities
For most patients undergoing a phenol Chemical Peel the recovery time needed should result in new skin formation in approximately 7 to 21 days. Patients undergoing the trichloroacetic acid TCA will result in new skin forming in 5 to 10 days. Patients can resume normal activities in approximately 2 to 4 weeks, with complete recovery in 3 to 6 months.
Long-term results of Chemical Peel procedure
The effectiveness and duration of the Chemical Peel varies with the individual. Those with fair, thin skin with minute wrinkles will experience the greatest results. Of the two Chemical Peel methods the Phenol is more permanent in its duration.
How much does a Chemical Peel cost?
Costs for a Chemical Peel run in-between $700 to $1000.
Will my insurance cover a Chemical Peel procedure?
Because a Chemical Peel is considered an elective procedure, insurance usually will not cover the operation. However some costs may be covered if there is a medical necessary behind the procedure. As always consult with your physician and health insurance plan.

Creative Uses for Aromatherapy

The Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all recognized the therapeutic properties of essential oils and plant extracts. The use of plant oils can be traced back over 6000 years. Individuals in many cultures believed that scent inspires the imagination and frees the spirit. In modern society many individuals are finding innovative ways to incorporate aromatic scents into their daily lives, to elicit feelings of relaxation and contentment.

Bath

Oil and water dont always mix well, so consider mixing 6-10 drops of aromatherapy essential oils with 1/8 of a cup of milk or soy milk, then add it to a warm running bath water. Do not add the essential oil blend until you are ready to get into the bath, this will allow you to enjoy the initial release of the oils into the bath.

Facial

Facial are another technique used to help individuals relax. Added benefits to steam facials include cleansing of pores, and softening of the skin. Adding an aromatherapy scent to the facial will bring additional pleasure.

Fill a large bowl, a quarter of the way full up with very hot water. The larger the bowl the more hot water it will hold. More water will produce more more steam. Add 2 to 4 drops of your favorite essential oil blend to the hot water, hold your head over the bowl and cover both the bowl and your head with the towel. The steam will rise invigorating your pores. Take short breaks if you find yourself becoming to warm.

Massage

In practice since ancient times, massage is a relaxing experience of hand strokes on the body to rejuvenate the mind and body and eliminate stress. Using hands and fingers, the message therapist alleviates any kind of muscular pains and discomforts and relaxes the muscles. Massage creams or oils will help the hands move smoothly over the muscles. Add essential oils to scent the massage oil and bring additional relaxation. Be careful not to apply undiluted oils to the skin. Pure essential oils should always be diluted with pure carrier oil or added to an existing base cream.

Another common way to manage muscle relaxation is to rub essential oil blends into the soles of the feet, and put on warm socks. The heat from the socks, causes the essential oils to be quickly absorbed into the skin.

Healing

Essential oils have been used for generations to heal, enhance and maintain good health. Essential oils can be used as a gentle remedy for headaches and muscle aches. It is important to understand how your body reacts to various scents, so that you can induce muscle relaxation when necessary. Specific health ailments should always be properly diagnosed from a licensed medical practitioner, while essential oils can enhance medical care rarely are they a lone solution to serious health concerns.

Skin Care or Aesthetic

Essential oils can help decrease wrinkles, clear acne, aid dry skin and help clear cellulite. Studying the properties of essential oils and how they can be used will bring a greater understanding to the power of essential oils.

The olfactory cells in your nose are the only place in the whole body where the central nervous system is directly in contact with the external environment. This fact is not lost on the medical community. The oldest medical text in existence is recorded on two clay tablets from the Sumerian period around 3500 BC. The clay tablets discuss the use of aromatics in medical practice.

Most of the advanced work on Aromatherapy has been done in France where French physicians, after completing medical school, have the option to continue with several more years of learning so that they can use and prescribe essential oils in their medical practices. In fact tradition medicine is now acknowledging the use of aromatherapy in medical practice . A recent article published in the journal Pediatrics, indicated that pleasant odors, can help premature infants that are in incubators, with the breathing disorder, apnea.

There is no certification for aromatherapists in the United States. However, there are over 2,000 clinical aromatherapists who prescribe aromatherapy for all kinds of ailments, including acne, fungus, asthma, allergies, and constipation. Traditional medicine and ancient remedies are merging in modern day medicine.br

Secrets To Youthful, More Vibrant Looking Skin

Author: Lana Robinsonbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Did you know that the first thing people notice about you is your face? Also, did you know that having healthy skin is an important part of a great looking face? Caring for your face is an important thing that you can do for yourself… and its not that hard. See below for some basic tips and simple guidelines meant to encourage you to care for your skin. After all, your skin is your bodys largest organ… and it deserves some TLC!

1) Cleansing your Skin.

It is very important, no matter what your skin type, to cleanse your face every day. To keep pores clear and to keep your skin looking healthy, its a must to use a good product for deep cleansing at least once a week. Your choice of cleansing products should be as chemical-free as possible. Soaps containing perfumes and deodorants should not be used on your face because they have harsh ingredients and can leave a detergent film behind. Yuck! These cleansers can also irritate your skin and clog your pores (we all know what happens next!). When cleansing your face, select a product that is as natural and mild as possible.

Occasionally using a good scrub will remove dead cells and smooth the skin surface. Stay away from scrubs that contain ground bits of nuts or seeds. These particles may tear and damage your skin. A good scrub will invigorate without irritating or damaging. Basically speaking, the scrub should clean your skin without damaging it.

2) Moisturize your Skin

The most important thing you can do for your skin is moisturize it! A lot of people say that they have oily skin and have no need for a moisturizer. Quite the contrary! Everyone needs moisturizer… a really good moisturizer. Again, natural is better. Use products with the least amount of chemical additives. Always use a light moisturizer on your face after cleansing and dont forget to put the moisturizer on your neck area as well. If you are going to be outdoors always use a good sunscreen. You can find good moisturizers that also have a sunscreen in them as well.

For more intensive moisturizing and to target damaged skin and wrinkles use products containing rich, healing ingredients, such as vitamin E, aloe vera oil or squalene. These oils are great for under and around the eyes. This is one of the first places to show age because the under eye skin produces less of the oil that occurs naturally on the skin (sebum).

3) Toning your skin

Our skin is exposed to environmental pollutants and the suns UV and UVB rays everyday. Toning can help keep your skin clear and firm. As we age, it is harder is maintain the elasticity of your skin. Astringents and toners with glycolic or alpha hydroxy acids work well for toning the face. These acids can reduce the pore size, and unclog the pores… helping to reduce acne and avoid ingrown hairs.

4) Protecting your skin

Healthy, glowing skin is a reflection of overall body health. Protecting your skin can keep it looking healthier and younger longer. Key elements to the protection and health of your skin include:

a) Avoid over exposure to the sun. Sun damage may cause hyperpigmentation (brown spots) which can develop into cancer. Sun exposure also causes facial wrinkles. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher on all exposed skin, especially your face. Remember, you are exposed to the sun even while driving your car to / from work, school activities, soccer practice, the grocery store, etc. There are companies that make moisturizers that actually contain sunscreen as well. However, make sure the products dont have any chemicals, artificial dyes or fragrances.

b) Exercise. Exercise promotes blood circulation which increases oxygen distribution to the capillaries and skin tissue. This oxygenation revitalizes the skin. As gross as this may sound, sweating helps remove dirt and toxins from the pores. Always clean your skin immediately after exercising so you can wash the sweat and toxins from the surface of your skin.

c) Eat Healthy. Eating healthy food, including lots of fruits and vegetables will keep your skin looking healthy. Foods rich in vitamins C and E also help to maintain skins elasticity. Drinking plenty of water will hydrate and firm your skin as well. No time to eat healthy? Take a good vitamin supplement that contains anti-oxidants and plant/vegetable extracts to help your skin be healthy from the inside to the outside!

d) Avoid Excess. Too much alcohol, smoking, stress or fatigue can take its toll on the health of your skin. These factors can dull and discolor your skin making you look old and tired. Get a lot of sleep and avoid excess to keep your skin looking healthy and vibrant./pbr

Pregnancy and Purigenex

Author: Dr. Susanne Bennettbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
Pregnancy is such an exciting time for women that its no wonder we often here of a pregnancy glow. While this is one of the many benefits of expecting, a downside of pregnancy is hormonal imbalance, which often leads to acne, a side effect resulting from excess hormones. The good news is expecting mothers do have an easy, non-invasive way to combat acne scarring. Purigenex Collagen can decrease acne scars, heal skin more rapidly and restore the health of skin better than it had ever been before.

Melasma (hyperpigmentation of skin) is another common side effect associated with excess in hormones. This too can be treated with the use of Purigenex. Our collagen masks increase the density of skin, which then decrease the activation of melanocytes in melanin production, reducing hyperpigmentation. Even those with sensitive skin and redness will notice results from our topical Purigenex collagen. The integrity of the skin will be strengthened and redness will diminish.

After nine months have past and baby arrives, the fun certainly begins. While moms can now start the process to shed baby weight, something they are happy to part with, their pregnancy glow (swelling from water retention) will disappear rapidly post partum and facial skin will show signs of flaccidity (sagging). Additional wrinkles and indicators of aging may appear. However, use of Purigenex Collagen can prevent the post partum aging process, so that after delivery, the skin will be more resilient and healthier and have more elasticity and density.

All in all, Purigenex collagen masks and serums are non-invasive, require no downtime and can be used throughout all stages of pregnancy.

Sunblock. Your Most Important Cosmetic

Author: Wendy Owenbr
Source: articleage.combr
br
Your Most Important Cosmetic? Sunblock by a mile!
Are you a skin care junkie? Is your bathroom closet overflowing with bottles and jars? Does the content of these bottles and jars actually do anything to improve your skin?
My guess is sometimes. We all get seduced by promises of younger looking skin or banish wrinkles overnight. But the sad fact is a lot of the pretty looking products out there do not do what they promise and the wrinkles, acne, broken veins or whatever ails you is still there the next morning.
There is one cosmetic that stands head and shoulders above the rest – Sunblock.
Sunblock is the best preventative of aging skin you can buy in a bottle. It wont make you look younger in a few applications, you need to use it regularly – like every day – but over time it will make a tremendous difference to the appearance of your skin.
Sunblock can be found as lotion, gel, roll on, or spray. If youre on a tight budget you can usually buy a bottle for just a few dollars from a supermarket or drugstore. Test it on an inconspicuous part of you first in case you have an allergy to it! This is more important for the cheaper brands.
Use sunblock even if its cloudy outside. Ultraviolet (UV) rays can penetrate clouds by up to 80%, yes even if its raining. If youre driving, UV rays can penetrate glass, they can also be reflected off glass or water.
And dont just use sunblock on your face. Put it on your hands, feet, arms or whatever bits of you that are not covered up. This is not just for appearances, sunblock can prevent potentially fatal skin cancers and melanomas from developing.
Even if you have never used sunblock and youve already developed premature aging, its not too late! Regular use of sunblock and staying out of the sun can actually reverse some of the damage.
Make sure you use a sunblock which has a sun protection factor (SPF) of over 15 and apply it fairly generously for best results. Its also best to apply at least 20 minutes before venturing out.
Remember – prevention is better than cure!

Female Hirsutism Causes – Classification Of Causes

Author: Franchisbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Hirsutism is excessive hair growth in certain areas of a womans face and body, such as the mustache and beard area, that creates a male pattern of hair. Women normally can have fine, pale, faintly visible hair in these areas, but heavy hair growth in a male pattern with coarse or colored hair is not expected.

Normal patterns of hair growth and hair distribution vary widely, determined mostly by racial background. For example, whites as a group have more facial and nonscalp hair growth than do blacks or Asians, and white women of Mediterranean heritage normally have more hair growth than do women from Nordic countries.

Causes of hirsutism

Before we lunge into the probable causes of hirsutism it is better to remember that it is a sign of hyperandrogenism.

The causes of increased androgen level in hirsutism include:

Familial and idiopathic hirsutism

These are common causes of hirsutism resulting from peripheral androgen goings-on. It begins in puberty and slowly steps forward. The patients have normal menses, normal testosterone level, 17alpha hydroxyprogesterone and DHEAS. The diagnosis stands on exclusion.

Idiopathic cause-
Idiopathic cause triggers hirsutism in 6% to 17% of hirsute women. Hirsutism occurs in the body where the circulating levels of androgens and ovulation are normal. The pathophysiological indicators are exaggerated peripheral 5 alpha reductase activity, altered androgen metabolism or different functioning androgen receptors.
Excess secretion by the ovaries (For example tumors, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

The most common example is polycystic ovary syndrome, which affects 6% women of the reproductive age bracket. Over 70% patients with PCOS have signs of hyperandrogenism. This is manifested by hyperandrogenemia and chronic anovulation.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is typified by formation of follicular cysts, which are detected by ultrasound. PCOS is a combination of polycystic ovaries and other typical symptoms like hirsutism, amenorrhea or dysfunctional uterine bleeding, infertility, obesity, irregular menstrual cycles and acne.

This is better diagnosed clinically rather than laboratory findings. The diagnosis of PCOS is based on exclusion, which means this disorder is attributed to patients whose body shows proof of ovulatory dysfunction supported by either clinical or biochemical evidence of hyperandrogenism.

Some rare causes of hirsutism

• Medications: Hirsutism may be caused by the medications, which are the sources of hyperprolactinamia.
• Greater production of growth hormones
• Hyperinsulinemia
• Hypothyroidism

The insight into the roots of hirsutism will accelerate the bold step forward, towards the cure of the disease.

Miscellaneous causes of hirsutism:

This category consists of diverse causes which cannot be grouped under other categories.

Causes of hirsutism under this category include:
* Syndromes of excessive insulin resistance * Functional adrenal hyperandrogenism * Hypereactio luteinalis of pregnancy – transient increase in androgen levels during pregnancy * Thecoma of pregnancy – Transient androgen secreting tumor during pregnancy * True hermaphroditism – condition where both male and female internal sex organs are present

Treatment

Hirsutism is self-evidently a most embarrassing condition for a woman to find herself in. But rather than experiment with the various methods of hair removal on offer, all of which have their special merits and drawbacks, it is safer to consult a qualified doctor. S/he would tell you precisely what is responsible for hirsutism in your case, and suggest a suitable hair removal route along with medication.

Anti-androgens are normally used to stop production of the male hormones in women that cause hirsutism. The treatment usually takes from three to six months to work. However, while medication can prevent new hair from growing it cant do much about existing hair.

A prescription cream that slows down the growth of facial hair takes four to eight weeks to have some effect. Popping 50-200 mg of spironolactone daily also retards hair growth. But it has side effects, including tenderness in the breasts and irregular menstrual bleeding. Cyproterone is another drug that is used to treat hirsutism. Administered along with oral contraceptive pills, the drugs side effects include weight gain, depression and loss of libido.

Cosmetic therapy

For temporary hair removal, many women with mild hirsutism pluck the unwanted hairs. Waxing, another alternative, is essentially the same as plucking.

Depilating agents are chemicals that dissolve the hair shafts on both facial and body hair and may also be used to remove unwanted hair. These chemicals can cause irritation and facial skin is particularly sensitive.

Shaving is probably the simplest and safest temporary hair removal procedure. Although frequently required, it is virtually painless and seldom has side effects. Contrary to popular belief, shaving does not make hair grow faster. An electric razor produces less skin irritation than a blade./pbr

Celebrity Skin

Have you ever wondered how Hollywood actresses always manage to look so gorgeous and young, in spite of the years that keep going by? With the help of the worlds best cosmetics and beauty experts, they manage to keep their youthful appearance and look incredibly more beautiful as time passes!

Do you wish you could have the same kind of treatments and skincare to help you stay looking young and beautiful? There is good news for all of us! Many of the ingredients beauty experts use for celebrities and fashion models are available to us at affordable prices! You just need to hear the buzz to get to know what theyre using and how you can get a hold of the same quality ingredients at a fraction of the cost!

The buzz these days is about ingredients you may find individually or combined with other ingredients in various creams, lotions or serums.

Vitamin A in the form of retinyl propionate
Vitamin C in the form of L-ascorbic acid
Glycolic acid
Licorice extract

And these ingredients are not just passing fads. All of them have undergone scientific scrutiny as effective anti-aging agents or for their role in skin care.

Each of these ingredients works to sustain the youthful radiance of skin-each ingredient covers a different aspect of skin care. Vitamins A and C work as nutrients supplying the skin with the nourishment it needs to stimulate the building of healthy collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are skin proteins. They are components that form the basic structure of skin. The diet we keep, heredity, oxidative stress produced by environmental pollution and the sun-all affect our ability to produce collagen and elastin. So its important to nourish the skin topically with these two vitamins. Both Vitamins A and C notably help to promote the production of collagen and elastin. These effects have been observed under a microscope!

Vitamin C is one of the major antioxidants. It helps to neutralize free radical activity that does damage to our body on the cellular level. A form of Vitamin C, L-ascorbic acid, is used by the skin in multiple ways, but it must be at a concentration of 7 percent to be effective. Once it is applied and absorbed by the skin, its protection lasts for at least 4 days! L-ascorbic acid:

Helps to promote collagen synthesis leading to more supple skin
Helps to promote elastin synthesis helping to decrease fine lines and wrinkles, and repair sun-induced aging.
Helps to moderate and reverse the formation of brown pigmentation.

Retinyl Propionate, once absorbed by the skin, converts to retinoic acid. It cares for your skin by:

Helping to promote the growth of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, thereby decreasing fine lines and wrinkles, and making skin firmer and more elastic (helps to minimize sagging)
Provides skin hydration
Helps to reduce dark circles around the eyes
Helps to shrink pore size
Helps to protect against acne and stretch marks.
Helps to repair sun-damaged skin

Retinyl Propionate is light sensitive and therefore must be applied in the night.

Glycolic acid is a natural ingredient derived from sugar cane. It is made up of very small molecules that easily penetrate the upper layers of the skin. It helps to loosen dead skin cells from the skin surface. In this way, it works to effectively exfoliate the skin, revealing smooth, younger looking skin. Glycolic acid is also an excellent moisturizer as well. You would need to use a sunscreen during the day if you are applying glycolic acid at night.

Glabadrin is a component in licorice extract. It works in the skin to help inhibit the production of melanin, brown skin pigmentation. Glabadrin is known to brighten skin in as early as 7 days. It helps to lighten freckles, brown spots, and scars. It also works as an anti-inflammatory helping to calm skin.

While all these ingredients are great, their prices are pretty phenomenal too!

Glycolic face peels, containing 10 to 30 percent glycolic acid, cost anywhere between $100 to $150.00 for just one peel!
Facial creams containing licorice extract cost around $50.00 for just 6 oz!
L-ascorbic acid serums can cost anywhere between $30 to $100 depending on the brand.
Night creams containing retinyl propionate cost around $70 for a reliable brand.

This might be fine for celebrities, but too expensive for you? Heres the good news! All of these ingredients are available in a physician-formulated, clinically proven product called NightSkin.NightSkin can help to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, reduce dark spots, brighten the skin, moisturize it, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. NightSkin is not a cream, but a serum. Serums are used mostly in spas and in high quality professional skin care treatments. The advantage that serums have over creams is that serums contain highly concentrated ingredients with smaller molecules which can easily penetrate into the skins surface for extremely effective results!

For around $70a month, NightSkin combines all four ingredients and for just a fraction of the cost, can treat your skin to the kind of luxury treatment the celebrities receive!
